Jahlil Okafor: Two-year deal (Detroit Pistons)
Have you ever felt as though you were being trolled before? To the point where you have almost no doubt that somebody is indeed preying upon your own dislikes for their entertainment? I no longer have any doubt: The Detroit Pistons are trolling me with the signing of Jahlil Okafor.
With the signing of Okafor, the Pistons now have (at last count, this will probably increase by the time this slide goes live) at least five centers in the forms of Isaiah Stewart, Mason Plumlee, Tony Bradley, Jahlil Okafor and Dewayne Dedmon.
It doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t fit any plan, it’s strange, bizarre and pointless. Maybe the Detroit Pistons have decided that replacing Andre Drummond is the goal, and the only way to do it is by scooping up every available center. Maybe it takes five men to do the work of one after all.
Drummond was traded to open up cap space, and the Pistons have swiftly burned every bit of it on flotsam centers. Not even just a bunch of flotsam players, but specifically center. It’s like signing available free agents on NBA 2k when you don’t realize you’ve got the “Centers” filter selected and all other positions de-selected.
Anyway, don’t ask me what’s going on, but whatever it is I hate it.
