Mock NBA Draft 6.0: Will Anthony Edwards go first in the final mock draft?
By Corey Rausch
The Houston Rockets could be totally different before the draft even happens. There is a new rumored trade with both of their stars every time you open Twitter. Getting this pick (and a future pick) for Robert Covington further indicates a rebuild. Regardless, Aaron Nesmith would help to thread the needle. He would fit their style of play perfectly should they continue to play the same style and would also be imminently tradable should they continue to go in another direction. He is an absolute flamethrower, the type that would make the former Rockets coach proud.
This has been the constant and it continues to be so. Adding a sharpshooting defender to a team lacking a little bit of both would add a little more stability to the roster. While whoever they take at the top is a little bit of a gamble Saddiq Bey seems to be pretty certain what he is going to be. That fits the team well.
The Dallas Mavericks want and need secondary playmaking next to Luka Doncic to balance and already thrilling offense. Kira Lewis Jr. should be much higher in this draft and would be a steal for the Mavericks. He is a solid defender and would allow Doncic to thrive off ball.
Desmond Bane’s range in this draft is all over the place but he fits the plan the Brooklyn Nets seem to be prioritizing. Like Bruce Brown (who they just traded for) Bane is a staunch perimeter defender and a solid outside shooter (certainly more so than Brown). The Nets are clearly going all in and adding more players who look ready to compete in the playoffs makes the most sense.
Given that the top targets for the Miami Heat are off the board it is time to go in a new direction. Precious Achiuwa has lottery potential at a position that finds him lower in the mock. He is all about hustle and has the body and ability to guard multiple positions. With the departure of possibly all of their reserve bigs this is a worthwhile project for the Heat to take on.
