Best NBA Draft Lottery pick: Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry
There are not many players in recent NBA history that have transcended the league as much as Stephen Curry has. And when looking at the guard’s overall impact on the Golden State Warriors franchise, it is a feat to also marvel at.
Curry had a gradual rise in the NBA, which is unlike many superstars in the NBA today. He did not make his first All-Star appearance until his fifth season in the league. By this time, Curry was well known as a top-tier 3-point shooter who could go on lengthy streaky runs now and then. But by his sixth season, Curry had a meteoric rise that has not been seen in the league since. With back-to-back NBA MVP wins and a championship victory with the Warriors in 2015, he catapulted into being talked about among the elite talents in the league.
Curry’s sudden rise in the NBA can be examined through his ability to become arguably the most proficient 3-point shooter in league history. Not many coaches would approve of having a player average double-digits in 3-point attempts per game. But in Curry’s case, head coaches across the NBA would not have a problem with him taking shots from beyond the arc at will. Curry’s ability to take threes at will is why he holds three of the top four spots for most 3-point makes in a season, which includes his 402 such makes over the 2015-2016 season.
Even after a trio of championship wins and a multitude of iconic moments, Curry still has much left to provide for the Warriors franchise.
