NBA Draft Preview: What’s the best spot for LaMelo Ball and the rest?
From LaMelo Ball to RJ Hampton, the 2020 NBA Draft is going to be an explosive all-around show. We’ll take a look at the best fit for each player and team.
It has been an exciting time for the NBA, but nothing is as exciting as NBA draft night. This year is a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of all of the young NBA hopefuls and their friends and families and fans gathering at Barclays Center in June, it will be a fall evening inside in mid-November during a live virtual event.
But that doesn’t mean things will be less exciting. The show must go on, and as usual, the top players from all around the basketball world will have a chance at being chosen in the top picks in front of the whole world. This year’s draft sees the likes of LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, Obi Toppin, and others, whom we have heard a lot about, being chosen by the top teams in the NBA.
These top teams are called the lottery picks, which were announced on Aug. 20th. The Minnesota Timberwolves will headline the 2020 draft with the No. 1 pick. Lottery picks thereafter include the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics.
As these teams prepare to choose the best fit, everyone must be on board with who those players and teams are. So, it isn’t just about the lottery picks, it is about which players fit which teams and all of the others throughout the entire draft.
Here, I will dive into that and then some. The top players, the top picks, and the overall best of the best and the best fit for these stars. I will take a look at some of the players and teams and give some analytical insight in this draft preview.
Anthony Edwards is the most exciting player in the 2020 Draft, and he is projected to be drafted No. 1 overall.
There are a lot of talented players in this draft. None stick out or say that more than Anthony Edwards from Georgia. This is why he will more than likely go No. 1.
Edwards is a 6’5”, 225 lbs shooting guard. He is striking and his style of play consists of driving to the basket, scoring off jump shots, and he can run the floor like a pro.
Comparisons have recently been drawn to Dwyane Wade, as DWade was able to drive and make dashing moves to the basket along with shooting to add to his scoring ability. Edwards is a potential two-way sharpshooter and will contribute to a team and the league in big ways. Other No. 1 picks whom Edwards reminds me of include Derrick Rose and John Wall.
His explosiveness will impress many teams and is definitely eye-catching. Edwards is fit to lead the next generation of basketball stars more than any other person in this draft.
Whether or not the T-Wolves, with the duo of D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns already at work, is best for him is up in the air, but he is definitely fit to be drafted first overall.
