2. Re-sign Jae Crowder

Jae Crowder came over as part of the Andre Iguodala trade which helped the Heat shed Dion Waiters and the often injured Justise Winslow. The Heat got two experienced veterans who were ready to play.

Crowder certainly played well for the 20 regular-season games and the 21 playoff games he participated in. In the regular-season games, Crowder averaged 11.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 27.7 minutes per game.

He shot the ball well with shooting splits of .482/.445/.733 which was impressive considering Crowder took 6.4 of his 8.2 shot attempts per game from behind the 3-point line. He was given a role and he stuck to it.

The biggest hurdle to re-signing Crowder will be his value. As he is turning 30, this could be the last big deal that he signs. This may put the Heat out of the running for Antetokounmpo the following season unless they can get a trade done.

The problem is that Crowder’s instincts, positioning, and shooting were all crucial to helping get his teammates open in the playoffs. Without this, the Heat may go back to being one of the better sides in the East but not one that makes finals again. If they can sign him for a lesser deal then this would be the best case for the franchise.
