Miami Heat: 5 offseason roster moves they must make
3. Re-sign Goran Dragic
Goran Dragic had a slight revival year last season after missing more than half of the 2018-19 season with injuries. Dragic averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.7 steals in 28.2 minutes per game.
He shot the ball efficiently with splits of .441/.367/.776 which was a really good shot in the arm for the Heat as Dragic came off the bench for all but three games of the regular season. This shows how team-oriented Dragic is, he came off the bench behind a rookie all season.
However, when the playoffs came around, Dragic started all but one of the games that he played. He was injured during the finals which hurt the momentum of the Heat, meaning that Butler had to put the team on his back with those historic games.
Dragic is coming off a $19.0 million final year of his five-year, $86 million deal. The Heat should be able to secure him at a much lower cost next season. Other teams will be looking to offer him more money than the Heat could reasonably afford but none of them are in contention for finals.
The Heat could nurse his 35-year-old body through the regular season again by using Herro and Nunn in the same way they did this season. Then they could unleash a relatively fresh Dragic on the playoffs again.
