Pursue: Sign or sign-and-trade for Serge Ibaka

Serge Ibaka is another name that has been tied to the Brooklyn Nets recently. The 31-year-old power forward’s three-year contract with the Toronto Raptors expired this year, making him an unrestricted free agent who still has a lot of offer.

Like Jrue Holiday, “reliable” and “consistent” are two fitting words to describe Serge. This past season, he averaged15.4 points and 8.2 total rebounds per game, with 0.8 blocks and 0.5 steals. He shot a very good 51.2 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from three, and 71.8 percent from the free-throw line. Stretch-4 players are one of the most in-demand positions in the league and any team in the NBA could use one.

Serge Ibaka has 12 years in the league under his belt, as well as experience in the playoffs and in the NBA Finals. He ended the 2019-20 season as an NBA Championship with Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors and made a playoff run in the bubble before being knocked out by the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Mike Mazzeo from Forbes has said that Kevin Durant has been trying to recruit Serge Ibaka, as they were former teammates on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He would be a good fit on the Nets but will be expected to be another popular free agent target.
