Pursue: Trade for Jrue Holiday
Jrue Holiday has been linked to almost every team in the NBA at this point, and it’s easy to see why. The New Orleans Pelicans will likely want to center the team around Zion Williamson, making Jrue Holiday a popular target in the market. He’s currently on the fourth year of his five year contract with the Pelicans, so trading him away before he hits his player option in 2021 could make sense.
On the court, Holiday is great on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he has produced consistently, and even improved, with age. This past season, Holiday averaged 19.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.8 total rebounds per game, shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from deep, and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line. Although these numbers aren’t mind-boggling, Jrue is a very well-rounded player and one of the best defenders at his position right now.
Jrue could be the third-player that pushes the Nets over the edge by making up for Kyrie on the defensive end. His 11 years of experience in the league would also be a key asset for this young team that should not be overlooked. Potential packages for Jrue Holiday could include any combination of Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, and the 17th overall draft pick.
