2. Sign a solid bench player to a friendly deal

The Nuggets have their starting line-up set for next season with Murray and Harris in the backcourt with Barton on the wing. Jokic is the starting center, and, thanks to his development and play during the playoffs, Jerami Grant has replaced Paul Millsap, pending his contract situation.

The Nuggets also have the makings of a solid bench headlined by Morris and Porter. It would not be surprising if Bol Bol and a backup big are not added to that list.

However, the Nuggets need a player on the bench who can take over the scoring and be a veteran mentor and leader to the younger guys. As things stand, Paul Millsap will get that role if he chooses to re-sign. He has just finished his $90 million deal over three years but will not get anywhere near that again.

At the age of 35, he will most probably be signed to a veteran’s minimum deal. This should suit both parties as Millsap is an incredibly hard player to match up on due to his size and the way he plays the game.

However, with the development of Porter, there is a good chance that Millsap might see his minutes decline. Signing a smaller wing prospect like Kent Bazemore may help balance this second unit out. Signing both would be better for the franchise.
