4. Sign a backup big

The Nuggets’ main offensive weapon is Jokic. Yes, Murray was incredible during the playoffs but it all starts with Jokic. He can shoot from anywhere, passes the ball well and can rebound effectively.

However, Jokic does need time to rest. His replacement needs to keep the game flowing for the Nuggets. While no one can replace the production of Jokic, Mason Plumlee has shown over the past three and a half years with the Nuggets he can more than hold his own, having averaged 7.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.7 steals in 19.9 minutes per game. While these numbers are not earth-shattering, this assist average for a backup center is a big reason why the second unit works.

However, the Nuggets may look to a more defensive-minded backup. They could look at trying to pry Nerlens Noel away from the OKC Thunder. He is one of the best back-ups on the market this free agency period.

The Nuggets have Noah Vonleh on their roster as a free agent. Unfortunately for the Nuggets, he is not at the level required to keep them in the hunt for a Finals berth. He may be re-signed due to the Nuggets salary cap pressure. Unless Vonleh takes a leap, this will only be to fill out the roster.
