Possible Target: Jrue Holiday

The New Orleans Pelicans have been rumored to be looking for trades to a contender for Jrue Holiday. Much recently, there have been rumors that the Hawks have emerged as a trade destination for Holiday that involves their sixth pick.

Holiday is arguably the best defensive guard in the league. For a team that has not found their defensive identity, and a player that ranks in the bottom of the league in defensive metrics, Holiday is the perfect fit for the Hawks.

Not only can he defend, but he’s also somebody that can be a primary ball-handler and create his own shot. If it’s anything that the Hawks need more than defense, it’s somebody that can take the pressure off of Young.

The negative side to this is that Holiday is 30, and that doesn’t fit within the Hawks timeline of players. He’s good now, but how good would he be in two years? Who knows if he’ll re-sign with the Hawks after his contract expires?

If the Hawks don’t care about that, trading their sixth pick and one of Huerter, Hunter, or Reddish could get the job done. That’s a generous trade offer because the Hawks might have to trade all of those players if they want Bradley Beal.
