Realistic Target: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Before we get into why Kelly Oubre Jr. would be a good trade target, let’s remind the people that the Hawks actually drafted him. He was then traded to the Wizards in a three-team trade, and the Hawks received Tim Hardaway Jr. from the New York Knicks.

I guess you never know what you have until it’s gone.

The Phoenix Suns have big contracts, and Cameron Johnson and Mikal Bridges at the forwards position. That means that Oubre is an outlier here, and the Suns should be looking to move him since this is the last year of his contract.

The Hawks need as much wing depth as they can get, and Oubre is a good 3-and-D player. Trading the sixth pick for the Suns 10th pick and Oubre could easily put him on the Hawks…again.

One problem the Hawks might face is trying to trade for a player on the last year of his deal. It wouldn’t be good to trade for a player that has the chance to leave after the end of the season. If that’s the case, the Hawks should just keep their pick and go after somebody that plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
