5. Replace the back-up bigs

Of the LA Clippers big men who come off the bench, two deserve to lose their spots on the roster for next season. One of these is Patrick Patterson who joined the Clippers on a veteran’s minimum last free agency period.

The ten-year veteran is a solid defender and low-volume, high percentage shooter from 3-point land. However, he only averaged 4.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 13.2 minutes per game.

He shot the ball at 39.0 percent from deep but only took 2.9 per game and 3.9 from the floor. While this team did have dominant bench pieces in Lou Williams and Harrell, Patterson is too passive to help a team further into the playoffs.

The other player who the Clippers need not get back is Joakim Noah. The 13-year veteran has been plagued by injury throughout his career and is nowhere near the player he once was. In five games he averaged 2.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 10.0 minutes per game.

His deal is worth $1.7 million next season if the Clippers front office decides to guarantee it. They should not do this. Instead, they should look for veteran players who complement the games of Leonard and George who can stay healthy.
