Mock NBA draft 5.0: The LaMelo Ball resurgence is here
By Corey Rausch
As previously stated, LaMelo Ball is the biggest star in this draft and has the highest ceiling of any prospect. A trade is likely coming, mitigating the fit issues with D’Angelo Russell. Until it is clear who stays here, he could have the biggest personality the franchise has seen since Kevin Garnett.
The Golden State Warriors may get to get take a chance on Anthony Edwards. He has the potential to be a future All-Star if his motor becomes more consistent. Golden State is looking to win now and he looks ready to contribute from the jump. He, like Ball, is also imminently tradeable if the team decides to go in another direction.
This is what the Charlotte Hornets have wanted the entire time and the fit is perfect. If Wiseman fulfills his potential he will be the face of the franchise and could be a dominant modern big man immediately. Rare is it that the best fit and (possibly) best player available match. This time for the Hornets it does.
The Chicago Bulls have plenty of youth but the overall talent level is questionable. The franchise seems to think that they are closer to competing than reality would indicate. If fit is the call, Deni Avdija is still probably the cleanest. If his shot develops (the biggest if for players in the league today) he could be the best young player on their roster.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have two young guards and a number of older big men. In a world where they let Tristan Thompson walk and test the market on Kevin Love and Andre Drummond, Onyeka Okongwu is an easy choice. He profiles as a defensive anchor for a team devoid of such. As his offensive game develops this will look better and better.
