Sacramento Kings Trade Chip #2: Bogdan Bogdanovic

Trading Bogdan Bogdanovic will not be an easy task, but one that Monte McNair may be up for.

Bogdanovic is a restricted free agent this off-season and will look to test the open market. The crop of available players around him is underwhelming at best, so it is likely that he will be one of the premiere targets for teams with money to spend. He is a solid veteran with a high basketball IQ, and wouldn’t have much trouble filling a role on essentially any team in the league.

So in order to get value in return for Bogdanovic’s services, the Kings would have to initiate a sign-and-trade. The difficulty of this process would likely be McNair’s first big test as the lead man for Sacramento. He would have to find a team that is willing and able to take on Bogdanovic’s contract as well as give the Kings the assets to make the exchange a worthy one for both sides.

Unlike some of the other players on our list, there may only be a handful of suitors for the three-year pro from Serbia. Getting him to fit under the salary cap will be an adjustment for practically any contending team, but there are already rumors swirling. There has been chatter in recent weeks about some sort of mutual interest between Bogdanovic and the Milwaukee Bucks.

One of the issues with this scenario is the return for Sacramento. The Bucks don’t have a whole heck of a lot to give up in an exchange in any trade, and a return of Donte DiVincenzo and a late first-round pick just isn’t going to cut it for the Kings. Sacramento should certainly look to sell higher than that on one of their most valuable trade assets.
