Sacramento Kings Trade Chip #3: Richaun Holmes

Richaun Holmes is another player that the Kings could potentially hold on to initially.

Holmes quickly became a fan favorite in Sacramento last season. He was the biggest positive surprise for the team in an otherwise disappointing season, becoming the starting center just a handful of games in. He plays with high energy and his motor is constantly running. Holmes was able to post career highs across the board in his first season with the Kings, putting up 12.8 points and grabbing 8.1 rebounds in 28.2 minutes per game.

Like Bjelica, one of the biggest selling points on Richaun Holmes is his affordability. He will be entering the final season of a two-year deal and could make for the perfect rental for a team that is in need of a solid body down low. During the 2020 NBA playoffs, there were a handful of contending teams that were obviously in need of a better center. Keep tabs on teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics, who may be one piece away, to see if they make a play for Holmes. Don’t sleep on the Philadelphia 76ers either, who could bring Holmes back should they need a cheap body behind Joel Embiid.

While dealing Holmes may be difficult for Kings fans to stomach given their affinity for him, he may be one of the most valuable trade chips that Sacramento has in terms of potential return.
