The Sacramento Kings could be headed for a full roster turnover. Who are the team’s most valuable trade chips heading into the offseason?
Given that their front office is under new management, the Sacramento Kings will likely endure plenty of player movement in the near future. Newly hired general manager Monte McNair will be quick to get his fingerprints on the roster, and a full-on rebuild and/or fire sale are legitimate possibilities. Sacramento will look to get younger. Some of their core is aging, and there are a few pricey contracts that the new regime would prefer to part with.
The Kings should be one of the most active teams on the trade market this offseason. Draft night promises be busy as McNair and company could look to enhance their positioning on the board. Deals might be made in the following weeks to free up money for free agency.
So what assets does Sacramento have to dangle and make available? Who are the biggest trade chips?
You’ll notice that this list leaves out De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley, who would certainly garner the biggest return of any players on the roster. They might very well be as available as anyone else, but for this particular exercise, we’re going to pretend that McNair is choosing to build around them instead of shopping them.
Honorable mention:
Harrison Barnes might be a better player than some of the guys on our list. From a strictly basketball perspective, he is one of the Kings’ most valuable assets. But his ugly contract makes him increasingly difficult to trade. Barnes would likely need to be traded in a package deal, one that would see the Kings either give up assets or take on other big money.
If this were a list of players most likely to be traded, Harrison Barnes would be a top candidate. But his value on the trade market may not be quite as high as the following players.
