2. Re-sign Jeff Green

Jeff Green is a true NBA journeyman. He has played for nine franchises in his 12-year career. Last season was an example of why Green has played for so many teams. He originally signed on with the Utah Jazz during free agency.

Green was then waived by the Jazz on December 24th which was not a very nice early Christmas gift. However, on February 18th the Houston Rockets signed him to a 10-day contract. In true Green style, he impressed and was signed to a rest-of-season deal.

In the 18 games which followed, Green was superb. He averaged 12.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.8 steals in 22.8 minutes per game. However, his shooting efficiency is what showed how well Green fit the Rockets system.

His shooting splits were so impressive. He went .564/.354/.857 but it is when you drill into his field goal percentage you realize how good he was. Green hit 80.0 percent of his field goals when playing for the Rockets. Talk about being in the right place at the right time on the court.

The Rockets should be able to secure Green on a veteran’s minimum. At the age of 34, there will not be many teams chasing his services and the Rockets gave him another shot at playing in the league.
