4. Guarantee Ben McLemore

After being waived by the Sacramento Kings back in February of 2019, it appeared that Ben McLemore‘s NBA career might have been finished. He had just averaged 3.9 points and 0.9 rebounds in the 19 games he played. He shot the 3-ball at a tremendous 41.5 percent though.

Fast forward to the 2019-20 free agency period and the Houston Rockets saw the shooting potential of McLemore. They signed him to a two-year deal with the second year not guaranteed which was a smart move by the front office.

Now, the next smart move has to be to guarantee the 6’3″ shooting guard out of Kansas. He showed the Rockets front office that he can still produce in the league and would certainly be an asset for them next season.

McLemore averaged 10.1 points, and 2.2 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game. He shot the ball incredibly well with splits of .444/.400/.746. Consider that he took 6.4 of his 7.7 shot attempts from outside the arc, his field goal percentage is impressive.

As mentioned earlier, the Rockets do not have a great deal of cap space in which to work. They already have $130 million in committed salary with only ten players signed. McLemore is only owed $2.2 million if the Rockets guarantee him. For this level of production, it should be an easy decision.
