Cleveland Cavaliers: 4 trades to split up Sexton and Garland

3. Brooklyn Nets add a third star
The Brooklyn Nets have stolen the show in New York by adding both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the same offseason. While the rest of the roster is made up of quality role players – the growing consensus is that Brooklyn is searching for a third star to add to their group.
This might be difficult for Brooklyn as most teams will be looking to cling tight to their stars throughout this shortened season. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been ready to move on from Kevin Love for quite some time now – and this is a perfect opportunity to make a deal.
Irving and Love would reunite in this instance with Durant playing the role of LeBron James in a newly formed big-three. These three veterans would have everything they need to compete for a title – with Collin Sexton acting as their spark plug off the bench.
As for Cleveland, they gain a more suitable running mate for Garland in Spencer Dinwiddie. His height alone makes him a better fit with Garland – but his playmaking ability helps push him over the top. Dinwiddie averaged 6.8 assists last season. Meanwhile, the additions of Garrett Temple and Taurean Prince help boost the Cavs’ perimeter defense.
Lastly, the Cavaliers gain the No. 19 pick in the draft while maintaining their position at No. 5. This gives Cleveland two cracks at landing some young talent in the first round of this year’s draft.
