LA Clippers: 3 point guards to target this offseason – Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo is fresh off of winning a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers and could be searching for a new home this offseason, granted he opts-out of his impending player option.

If the two-time champ tests the free agent waters, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes the Clippers must make a push for him:

"“The Clippers do not have a leader. Kawhi Leonard is not the guy that speaks out vocally and talks about. He just goes out there and performs and does his job. And if I’m the Clippers, I would really really consider trying to get at Rajon Rondo. They do need a leader, they need a voice in that locker room that’s going to hold guys accountable. It’s only so much you could do as a coaching staff and as a head coach. You need a guy that’s gonna say the right things in the locker room and that’s gonna lose themselves in the team, and lead by example and preach the gospel day in and day out, and make sure guys don’t have a hidden agenda. Right now, the Clippers do not have a leader and that is part of their problem.”"

The point guard’s veteran leadership was certainly apparent in the Lakers’ title run this season, living up to his “Playoff Rondo” moniker to the fullest. For a team like the Clippers, who need someone to bring that locker room together after such a crushing end to their season, Rondo fits the bill.

In 48 games this season, Rajon Rondo averaged 7.1 points on .418/.328/.659 shooting splits, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. It is common knowledge that the 34-year-old’s impact goes far beyond the stat sheet, and the LA Clippers should see if they can lure him away from their inner-city rival.
