LA Clippers: 3 point guards to target this offseason – Jeff Teague
Jeff Teague is an underrated enigma among point guards in today’s NBA, and he could be a feasible option to plug the LA Clippers’ point guard search.
After missing the playoffs for the second straight season, Teague has a simple goal in mind as he weighs his options heading into free agency. As the veteran told Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype:
"Honestly, I just want to go to a team where we’re playing to win. I want to win. Like you’ve said, I’ve been to the playoffs for the first nine years of my career. That’s all I know is winning, competing, and trying to get to that ultimate goal of a championship. That’s what I want to play for is to win. If that’s starting or coming off the bench, I just want to play a significant role in winning. That’s really it for me. I know if I get a chance to play and compete, I’m going to play well. I’m not really worried about an exact situation, or I need to be able to start or whatever. I just know if I can get on a team and we’re going to win, I’m going to help in any way, and I’ll affect us winning."
For the LA Clippers, who were among the championship favorites for most of this past season, Teague could undoubtedly help boost the point guard position. The 32-year-old would give the team another playmaking floor spacer, and if he is willing to take a team-friendly deal to join a contender, the Clippers make sense for both parties.
Splitting time between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks this season, Teague averaged 10.9 points on .436/.368/.873 shooting splits, 5.2 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game. Pondering his next destination with a winning situation in mind, the LA Clippers should pose a compelling case for Jeff Teague and vice versa.
