The LA Clippers might be searching for a new point guard in NBA free agency, and there are a few candidates that should attract their interest.

Following a devastating collapse in the Western Conference Semi-Finals, the LA Clippers are under immense pressure heading into next season.

After giving up a historic haul of draft capital to piece together this roster, another trip the postseason shy of an NBA title could lead to the roster disbanding. While there are several issues the Clippers need to address this offseason, their point guard situation seems to be among the most prominent, and their star, Kawhi Leonard, is reportedly calling for an upgrade.

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith:

"“They clearly need a point guard. Everybody knows it, and Kawhi Leonard privately has clamored for one. It’s not that he wants them to get rid of Patrick Beverley, but Patrick Beverley is basically a defensive ace who’s small and has to play opposing guards. So they need a point guard that can run a team and can shoot.”"

A new point guard is not going to fix LA’s issues on impact, but it would clean up their playmaking and ballhandling concerns. As Stephen A. alluded to, Beverley is a fine guard, but not someone who can give the Clippers their best shot at competing in the jam-packed Western Conference.

LA’s search for a point guard will be no easy feat, given their limited financial resources and near non-existent draft capital, but it will not be impossible. As a crucial offseason approaches, here are three veteran point guards that should be on the LA Clippers’ radar.
