5. Exercise options

The Thunder have three team-optioned players they need to make a decision on. Abdel Nader has an option worth $1.7 million, Hamidou Diallo has an option worth $1.6 million which is the same value as Deonte Burton.

Diallo is a key energy piece from the bench for the Thunder. His career stat line is only 5.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game which is not earth-shattering. However, what he is able to do is change momentum with a sneaky steal and dunk on a regular basis. His option needs to be exercised as he is only 21.

Nader is a different story. He is the hardest worker on the entire squad but has never managed to convert his G League scoring to the NBA. Career numbers of 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game are not eye-popping, especially as Nader is 27 next season and does not have huge growth left. It is unlikely that his option will be exercised.

Burton is the least likely to have his team option exercised. He is also turning 27 next season. Where the other two have developed in their time with the OKC Thunder, Burton has not. It does not matter if the Thunder rebuild next season, this roster spot needs to be allocated to another player.
