Skal Labissiere – Buy

Let’s close with one free agent the Hawks may be interested in bringing back. Skal Labissiere is not a future star, but he could be a rotational piece for Atlanta, who likely want to see some return on their investment in him.

Atlanta acquired Labissiere and cash considerations from the Portland Trail Blazers in February in exchange for a second-round draft pick. At that time, he was averaging 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game off the bench.

But he was also nursing a knee injury, one that never healed in time for Labissiere to take the court for the Hawks. If the power forward walks this offseason, he walks without having played a single game for Atlanta.

That alone seems like a good reason for the Hawks to bring him back. Additionally, that knee injury will probably make the price tag on Labissiere a little bit lower than it might’ve been otherwise.

Labissiere also seems to be endearing himself well to the front office and coaching staff. Despite his injury and pending free agency, he participated in Atlanta’s minicamp (per the AJC) and seems interested in returning to the franchise.

The Hawks have a limitless amount of young frontcourt projects and Labissiere is no different despite being in the league since 2016 – he’s still only 24 years old. Atlanta would be wise to take a cheap flyer on the big man.
