Atlanta Hawks: Buy or sell each pending 2020-21 free agent
Charlie Brown Jr. – Sell
It feels pretty unfair to dismiss Charlie Brown Jr., considering the great-named player never really had much of a shot in the NBA this season. His play in the G League wasn’t strong enough to warrant a long-term future in Atlanta, though.
Brown played in ten games with the Hawks this season, averaging 2.0 points in 4.0 assists per game. He never really played much, though he managed to sneak into 11 minutes of play during a January blowout loss to the Brooklyn Nets, where he scored six points and managed to put up a plus-16 performance.
For the College Park Skyhawks, Brown started all 29 games he played, averaging a robust 17.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. But he struggled with his shot, hitting just 24.2 percent of his threes.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t even the best player for the Skyhawks, with that honor falling to Goodwin. At times, it seemed like Cat Barber was a better prospect as well, certainly one who could shoot better from distance.
It makes some sense for the Hawks to try to bring Brown back on another two-way contract – he’s still just 23 years old. But Brown isn’t getting a guaranteed deal from the Hawks this offseason.
