The Atlanta Hawks have some tough decisions to make with their free agents as they enter a pivotal offseason for their rebuild.

After bottoming out over the last few years, the Atlanta Hawks appear poised to take the turn towards contention any year now. The coming offseason will determine how quickly that can happen.

There’s a possibility that no team in the NBA will have more salary cap room to worth with this fall than the Hawks. If they want to accelerate their rebuild by bringing in a big-ticket free agent to pair with budding star Trae Young, that could be available to them.

First, they’ll need to figure out what to do with their own pending free agents. The team has an intriguing young core and if a free agent doesn’t fit with the program, they aren’t likely to come back unless it’s on a cheap deal.

The Hawks have seven free agents potentially coming off the books this offseason. One of those free agents, however, is Vince Carter, who has already announced his retirement. We’re going to assume the Hawks are going to pass on bringing him back to play next season.

Of those six free agents, only two are of the unrestricted variety. The other four free agents are all restricted.

The Hawks went 20-47 last season, finishing second-to-last in the Eastern Conference and last in the Southeast Division. Who will be back from last year’s squad?

Here’s what Atlanta should do with each of their pending free agents.
