Mock Draft 4.0: Is LaMelo Ball sliding down the rankings?
By Corey Rausch
Guessing what the San Antonio Spurs will do with a lottery pick for the first time in decades is no easy task. Despite that, Isaac Okoro is a clean fit. He is a brilliant defender and a solid interior scorer. As the Spurs balk at the trend of the league his lack of a 3-point shot makes the fit even clearer.
Another team tough to project for the opposite reason, the Sacramento Kings seem to shake a magic eight-ball every time they make a selection. Patrick Williams is a smart hedge regarding free agency concerns about losing Bogdan Bogdanovic and the consistent injury issues with Marvin Bagley. Williams is a solid defensive wing that boasts the length to protect the rim. His basketball IQ will set him apart quickly.
Stan Van Gundy has been ahead of the curve for more than a decade in surrounding his big men (in this case Zion Williamson) with knockdown shooters to alleviate issues as they grow and dominate. Aaron Nesmith has infinite range and is the perfect role player for the New Orleans Pelicans.
If the Boston Celtics keep any or all of their picks they should take risks. RJ Hampton is one of the biggest variables in the class but his ceiling is stunning. He is a phenomenal athlete and works hard but needs developed. There is no coach in the league better suited to the task.
Tyrell Terry would add a dynamic to the Orlando Magic that they have been missing for a long time. He is a knockdown shooter and open up the offense for them. He brings everything to the table that Markelle Fultz is lacking and would prove to be a stellar (if small) partner in the back court.
