Mock Draft 4.0: Is LaMelo Ball sliding down the rankings?
By Corey Rausch
Onyeka Okongwu still makes complete sense for the Atlanta Hawks. There have been rumors that they are looking to trade this pick to win now but in lieu of that Okongwu fits perfectly and could be explosive as he develops alongside all their young talent. He also would be one of the few players on the roster to care about defense.
The slide stops here. The Detroit Pistons are beginning a youth movement (theoretically) and are in need of a lead playmaker. Despite his flaws he is an elite passer and has the potential to develop the rest of the necessary skills to be more. It is hard to do better than this for the team considered by some to have the worst roster in the league.
This is an easy choice for the New York Knicks. They need a lead ball handler after missing on a number of options, some of which are still on the roster. Tyrese Haliburton has a high floor and will come in immediately ready to run their offense. If they trade for Chris Paul he would be the perfect student behind him.
In a world where the pairing of John Wall and Bradley Beal are able to get back on track to where they were before the injuries piled up for Wall, they need to focus on defense. Devin Vassell brings defense and shooting to a team in desperate need. If he continues to develop his offensive game the Washington Wizards could get back to their playoff form quickly.
Cole Anthony is not the most popular prospect in the draft but the potential is clear. For the Phoenix Suns he would be immediately productive offensively off the bench and would thrive given the chance to finally play with some teammates that are on his level. In high school he looked like a future star and that potential is still there. Do not let a bad University of North Carolina team fool you.
