Mock Draft 4.0: Is LaMelo Ball sliding down the rankings?
By Corey Rausch
Unless they trade the pick, Anthony Edwards seems like the most logical choice for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Has potential as a passer and is a pure scoring threat. He has the tools be the best defensive player on this roster quickly if he commits from the jump.
In our first change, Deni Avdija reportedly blew the Golden State Warriors away and fits their playstyle perfectly. He needs to improve his shooting but that can come with time, especially with these mentors. His unselfish play will fit perfectly next to the starry cast and makes Andrew Wiggins even more expendable as a trade piece.
For the first time in our mock drafts things finally break the way the Charlotte Hornets want. They are in need of a franchise center and James Wiseman has the ceiling of a star in that role in the modern NBA. The sample size is small but the potential is clear.
While some may still have LaMelo Ball ranked higher as a point guard in this draft, the fit is much cleaner with the Chicago Bulls for Killian Hayes. His shooting mechanics are much more pure, despite struggling from distance so far. This is a no-brainer for the Bulls.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have two young guards, love size and could use the local connection. The ceiling for Obi Toppin is not as high as some of the players that will go later in this draft but the floor is also much higher. He would thrive in the pick-and-roll with all the playmakers on this roster already.
