NBA Draft: 4 surprise destinations for a sliding LaMelo Ball
By Duncan Smith
Teams that should consider LaMelo Ball in the NBA draft: Bulls and Pistons
Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are in need of a playmaking guard to pair with Zach LaVine, and LaMelo Ball might be just the candidate for the job. Tomas Satoransky is a fine player, but he doesn’t bring the flare that Ball can provide. Of course, the duo of Ball and LaVine will present plenty of defensive concerns for new head coach Billy Donovan, but Ball does have the physical tools to be a competent defender down the road with coaching and increased size and strength.
If Ball is still on the board when the Bulls come up for the fourth pick, he’s an easy pick for the organization.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons have had their eye on guys like Devin Vassell and Killian Hayes in the draft, but it’s safe to say that if LaMelo Ball is still on the board when the seventh pick comes around, at least one of those two players will be off the board. If that’s the case, the Pistons will likely be compelled to take a flyer on a young prospect with the closest thing to star potential that this draft has to offer.
As the Pistons prepare to fully embrace their youth movement, nobody would encapsulate that movement more than LaMelo Ball.
