The Los Angeles Lakers are faced with a dilemma as they look to defend their NBA title. Do you try to improve your roster, or run it back the way it worked?
The Los Angeles Lakers showed some great team chemistry throughout their championship run this season. The roster was talented and the guys just glued together instantly, like they’ve been playing with one another for years.
Obviously, it would be great to bring back all these guys and retry as the defending champions. But, every offseason is a chance to get better, learn from your mistakes.
Some of the members of this title-winning team were irreplaceable, yet others were expendable, like the people sitting at the end of the bench on a nightly basis.
The roster included some aging veterans that will only continue to regress and some younger players that might not take the next step as soon as the team would like. As a result, these are the guys that could be on their way out.
On the other hand, a handful of the players that were brought it as a gamble, not knowing how they would fit next to the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, really exceeded people’s expectations.
The competition is about to be even fiercer next season, with many teams working on their comeback to the championship stage. You got the Golden State Warriors and the Brooklyn Nets, perhaps even the Dallas Mavericks, all being added to the list of possible contenders.
Consequently, the organization is faced with a series of tougher choices. Which players should they work the hardest to bring back?
(Bear in mind that Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee and Avery Bradley are almost certain to come back, this rendering their mention unnecessary.)
