3. Have Rodney Hood opt in.

After playing 48 games over two seasons since being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Rodney Hood finally felt like he was comfortable with the Blazers. Then came his Achilles injury which cut short the most promising season of his career.

Hood was averaging 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals in 29.5 minutes per game. Of these, only his 3.4 rebounds per game are an equal career-high, the rest of his numbers are slightly down.

However, you have to take into account efficiency when looking at this season and Hood was on track for one of the most efficient shooting seasons from deep ever. His slash line was  .506/.493/.778 which is impressive considering the sample size is 21 games.

His 49.3 percent from deep, had he of been able to sustain it for the rest of the season, would have placed him in the top 10 all-time for a single season. There have been only eight times where a player has shot at 50 percent from deep for the whole season. Hood’s number had him ninth.

To get efficiency like this for only $6 million for next season would be a steal for the salary cap-strapped Blazers. Given the lack of talent in the free agent pool this season, Hood could potentially opt out and test his value.

However, given that he likes to feel comfortable where he plays, Hood is unlikely to opt out, he is more likely to stick with the team which seems to suit the way that he plays. The Blazers certainly hope so.
