2. Re-sign Carmelo Anthony

Last season the Portland Trail Blazers had a need for a player who could come in and score. Carmelo Anthony had a need to prove to the world and himself that he was not done. When the two got together it was a beautiful sight.

Anthony was blamed for the OKC Thunder’s lack of success before he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks and waived. He was then blamed for the Houston Rockets’ lack of success before being waived.

It is safe to say after the season he just had with the Blazers he was not entirely at fault in either setting. As a star of this league for so many years, Anthony deserved to show everyone that he was still really good at the game of basketball.

He averaged 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals in 32.8 minutes per game. He showed that his game is well suited to the Blazers system and therefore should get another year to try and help a team get back near the top.

As all the injured players return, Anthony could take on a leadership/mentorship role from the bench. He is playing with one of the best leaders in the game with Damian Lillard whose skill set is able to bring out the best of Anthony’s game where other point guards could not.

Anthony has made his money, his earlier career contracts with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks paid him well. He would sign on for a veterans minimum again so that he could play ball with the organization that had faith in him where none of the others did.
