Portland Trail Blazers: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
1. Guarantee Trevor Ariza
The Trail Blazers looked a better team when Ariza was on the court. Not only is he a solid defender, he is also a tremendous 3-point shooter. During his time with the Blazers, he shot the 3-ball at 40.0 percent.
On top of that, Ariza is a culture setting type player. He has been in the league for a long time and does not allow his team to take a play off on defense. For example, Trae Young had made players look a little foolish at times with his nutmeg. Ariza was sure to let Young know this behavior was not tolerated.

While Ariza was assessed a flagrant foul for the play, but he showed the NBA that the Portland Trail Blazers were not to be toyed with. He also showed the rest of his team that they deserved to be treated with respect.
Ariza is due just under $13 million on his contract next year if the Blazers do decide to guarantee it. The franchise is not going to get such a versatile 3-and-D guy who possesses anywhere near the same qualities in free agency.
It would certainly be better to keep Ariza for the season with the hopes of signing him at the end of next season. He simply makes the Blazers a better team when he is on the court. This cannot be underestimated.
