NBA free agency option No. 3 for Christian Wood: Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns are the most intriguing of our trio of options. Unlike the Hornets and the Knicks, there’s real reason to believe they’re on the upswing as a franchise. Even before their breakout performance in the NBA bubble where they went 8-0 and nearly forced their way into a play-in for a playoff spot, they showed potential.

The Suns project to have just a bit less cap space than the Hornets at $17.8 million, and it’s possible that Christian Wood might represent the best player they could attract via free agency with that money. Wood and Deandre Ayton could be a dynamic frontcourt duo, and he could be the missing piece for a lethal offense alongside Devin Booker.

Considering how appealing the Suns have become all of a sudden, making a play for one of the most desirable available free agents on the market would be a huge win for the organization as it seeks to return to relevance.

As crazy as it seems, if Christian Wood wants to get paid AND win on his next contract, the Phoenix Suns might just be his best bet to do so.
