Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets are one of the most anonymous teams in the league right now, with no identifiable stars and a limited path towards postseason contention. Harrell may not solve the former, but he could serve as a big help for the latter.

Charlotte was the worst scoring team in the league and one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. Cody Zeller has become a fine NBA player, but he’s not a high-impact starter at the center position. Harrell put up better scoring and rebounding numbers off the bench last season and would immediately slot into a starting position in Charlotte.

There are a couple of reasons why it might be intriguing for Harrell to go to Charlotte. For one, he played his college basketball alongside guard Terry Rozier and they are capable of being an effective tandem. Additionally, Harrell grew up in North Carolina, making this a homecoming of sorts. It doesn’t hurt that Charlotte should have the cap space to offer more than most around the league.

That being said, the Hornets may also be wise to hang on to their funds this offseason. They don’t have to look far into the past to see the damage caused by the Nicolas Batum contract, or the trade for Bismack Biyombo’s contract. There’s no reason to believe Harrell wouldn’t be worth the money, but the Hornets haven’t always spent wisely.
