The Golden State Warriors are going to come out swinging next season, and the play of Draymond Green is central to this happening for them.

With the NBA season now finished, the Los Angeles Lakers are rightly receiving much of the media attention for their championship win. Other than that, a weak free agent class this coming offseason (headed by Fred VanVleet?) has many others talking about whether or not Giannis Antetokounmpo will remain with the Milwaukee Bucks in the long-term. Understandably then, the Golden State Warriors are spending some time in the background.

A place they are not used to being after dominating the last six or so years, but where they should be after a year in which they sunk to the bottom of the standings as a result of injuries to key players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

To watch this team play in 2019-20 before the season came to a stop was to watch an unrecognizable product on the court. Head coach Steve Kerr having to work with a bunch of second-round picks and cast-offs, not to mention the enigmatic Andrew Wiggins, who may not be in the Bay Area for long.

Yet the one constant, even throughout last year’s poor campaign, was the barking, snarling, Draymond Green. The heart and soul of a Warriors organization who did his best to get his teammates riled up and compete every night. In other words, exactly what he has done throughout his entire career.

We know that with the return of Curry and Thompson next season, plus either the addition of the second overall pick in the upcoming draft, or more likely, a trade package that gets them something significant in return, the Warriors are going to be among the better teams in the Western Conference.

But if Green, now 30, can get back to something close to his best form, then it is going to push the Warriors even closer to the Lakers and LA Clippers as an elite team in the conference. Here are three things they should look to get from Green.
