LA Clippers: 3 reasons to pursue a Derrick Rose trade – Rose is ready to win now

Derrick Rose turned some heads at Detroit Pistons’ media day last year with some comments that he made revolving around his career goals moving forward. Via NBC Sports Chicago:

"“While I’m in the game…I wanna win a championship that’s what I really wanna do. “I got all the accolades that I wanted, now it’s time for me to really get the one that I really, really want.”"

Detroit had been the Eastern Conference’s 8th seed the previous season, being knocked out of the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. They followed that up this season by taking a step backward, going 20-46 and finishing 13th in the conference, not exactly contending for a title as Rose had hope.

Rose has never lacked confidence, and if he remains with Detroit, the guard will still likely give his team a puncher’s chance to win the title again next season.

However, the likelihood of Detroit turning things around and competing at the forefront for a championship is improbable. Although it is not in Rose’s character to request a trade, he would likely embrace the opportunity to contend for a title on a team like the LA Clippers. From LA’s side of things, that feeling should unquestionably be mutual.

While Rose does not fix every looming issue on this roster, he certainly helps. Ballhandling, scoring, playmaking, and leadership are all aspects of the game that the Clippers need to resolve this offseason, and Rose checks the boxes.

Whether they can swing a deal for the 32-year-old or not, there is no doubt that the LA Clippers could use Derrick Rose’s services next season.
