5. Goran Dragic
Goran Dragic was an inextricable member of this year’s Miami Heat team that fought their way to the NBA Finals, where they gave the Lakers the most trouble they’ve had all season before losing in six games. Ready to hit free agency, Dragic’s future might not be in South Beach.
Dragic is an aging, yet very capable, veteran that could fit into basically every team around the league. So why would the Heat choose to let him go? The answer to this question lies around 21 months from now when a certain Mr. Giannis Antetokounmpo hits free agency.
Despite making it to the NBA Finals, the Heat remain a rebuilding team and they have the young pieces needed to form a dynasty for the next years. Even though Jimmy Butler played like a true gladiator, it was perfectly clear that some help is needed in Miami.
Rather than throwing money in Dragic’s face, the Heat will most likely be frugal during the upcoming weeks and will build the team with the guys on the current roster. This is where the Lakers come into play.
Goran could be the aforementioned shot-creating guard and the perfect sixth man to take this team to the next level. The former All-Star is not the most capable of defenders but what he lacks on the defensive end, he more than makes up for it with his offensive capabilities.
