Could the Philadelphia 76ers make a trade for Blake Griffin?

This next trade idea comes via TradeNBA user RoBballTops, and focuses on the needs of both the Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers. You can view the original trade idea here.

For the Sixers, Griffin could fit better alongside both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid than Horford, and it gets Horford’s contract off the books as they attempt to undo the wrongs of the Elton Brand administration. While the Pistons likely need more from Griffin than he can physically provide at this point, he would be able to play off the ball more with Simmons and Embiid.

This trade would also have the unique property of putting both Blake Griffin and Tobias Harris, who were traded for each other in the blockbuster deal that brought Griffin to Detroit, on the same team.

For the Pistons, Horford provides a durable big who could play either center or power forward alongside Christian Wood. He doesn’t rebound much, but his defense and playmaking are reliable, as is his veteran leadership on an increasingly young team.

Zaire Smith is an untapped young player, and future firsts are something the Pistons need to stock up on as quickly as they can.

Blockbusters are rare, but this is one could be feasible sometime before the trade deadline if Griffin is able to stay healthy.
