3. Move on from Wilson Chandler

Wilson Chandler was signed by the Nets on a one-year deal. He was probably seen as the player who would play last season while Durant healed his Achilles injury and would have to seek his fortunes elsewhere in the NBA next season.

Chandler only played 35 games, thanks largely to his suspension, starting three of them. He averaged 5.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 21.0 minutes per game. HIs scoring has dropped off significantly in the last two seasons where he has not gone above 6.0 points per game.

He is still rebounding effectively but the Nets have one of the best rebounders in the game playing in the second unit. DeAndre Jordan is averaging 10.0 rebounds in just 22.0 minutes per game. This means that the second unit is great on the boards, but struggles offensively with these two on the court.

The Nets also have Taurean Prince who is a really solid player with averages of 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds. He is also shooting the ball at 36.4 percent from deep which gives the Nets greater floor spacing than Chandler’s 30.6 percent.

Also, at 33, Chandler is at the wrong end of his career to fit the current timeline of the Brooklyn Nets. If he was producing his early career numbers then this would be different. As it is, if everyone stays healthy, Chandler would be a bench warmer if re-signed.
