2. Exercise Garrett Temple’s option

The Nets are have a huge payroll for next season. They currently have $140 million in salaries on their books. This means that if they do not exercise Garrett Temple‘s option then they will only have the possibility of signing a player on a minimum deal.

Temple was a solid veteran presence last season. He signed a two year deal in July of 2019 with the second year being a team option for $5 million. Given his production last season, which helped the Nets make the playoff, the team should not hesitate in exercising this option.

Temple averaged 10.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last season which was the highest output of his entire 10 year career in both categories. On top of that he averaged 2.5 assists which is the second highest in his career, his best number was 2.6 per game while playing for the Sacramento Kings in 2016-17.

He even started 25 games as the teams shooting guard due to injuries and showed a veteran presence. As the Nets are expected to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference next year, having this veteran presence in the locker room may be crucial.
