The Brooklyn Nets have a tremendous outlook given the roster moves they made last season. Here are five roster moves to make to continue the process.

The Brooklyn Nets had a tremendous offseason prior to the 2019-20 campaign. They signed Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to four-year deals. They were aware of Durant’s injury but were more than willing to spend $37 million this season to guarantee his services for three years with a player option.

Despite not having Durant for the season and missing Kyrie Irving for 52 games the Nets managed to finish in the seventh seed in the East. They did this on the back of Spencer Dinwiddie leading the balanced offense where eight players averaged doubles figures in points per game.

Just prior to the COVID-19 hiatus, the Nets fired their coach Kenny Atkinson. They replaced him with Jacque Vaughn who led them through the seeding games. He then oversaw a 0-4 first round series loss against the Toronto Raptors, which is no great shame. Now Steve Nash takes over for next season.

The future looks bright for the Brooklyn Nets.

After finishing with a 35-37 record with their best two players missing for most of the season, the Brooklyn Nets are primed for next season. Offensively their biggest weakness was from behind the 3-point line. They were 26th in the league shooting the long ball at 34.3 percent.

Next season the Nets will welcome Durant, who is a career 38.1 percent shooter from behind the line. They will also have Irving back for more of the season and he is a career 39.0 percent shooter from behind the line. Add Joe Harris back into this and the Nets look deadly from deep.

Defensively they were also not good at turning the opposition over. They were 27th in the league with 6.4 steals per game and forced 12.8 turnovers from the opposition which was 28th. Durant averages 1.1 steals for his career and Irving averages 1.4 steals, so this will help.

The Nets also have the 19th and 55th pick in the upcoming NBA draft. With all this in mind, lets look at the five roster moves the Brooklyn Nets must make in the coming offseason.
