3. Philadelphia 76ers

One could use a wide variety of words to describe the season the Philadelphia 76ers just had. Perhaps the most accurate of them all would be the word “shipwreck.”

A team that many predicted would win it all at the end of the season, the Sixers began the season pretty poorly. Then, they picked up the pace and finished it off strong as a total catastrophe.

Getting swept in the first round of the playoffs is not something they were hoping for approximately seven seasons into the so-called “Process.” As a result, change is promptly needed in Philly.

With a point forward like Ben Simmons, the logical approach to the gameplan would be to surround him with spot-up shooters that can create space for Ben to drive to the basket. Rajon Rondo can take the ball off Simmons’ hands when it’s needed and command the second unit.

The general consensus that Rondo is a poor 3-point shooter is just not viable nowadays. He has blossomed into an effective shooter who, believe it or not, shot 40.0 percent from behind the arc during the 2020 playoffs.

Joel Embiid is a force of nature in the post and Tobias Harris is one of the best catch-and-shoot guys in the league who can create their own shot as well. Where exactly have we seen something like that in the past?

Oh yes, that pretty good 2008 Celtics team with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. And would you look at that, Doc Rivers was also coaching that team too! Could it be destiny for Rajon? Could it be a new page in the book of The Process?
