After winning his second career NBA championship, Rajon Rondo could be evaluating his options soon, with many teams interested in him.

Just when Rajon Rondo’s career had started going downhill, he joined the Los Angeles Lakers for a chance to rekindle his NBA career. And boy did he accomplish his goal.

Despite not being a full-time starter for the Lakers, he proved to be an invaluable rotation piece throughout these past two seasons with the team. His tremendous basketball IQ and passing ability got the Lakers out of some sticky situations a number of times to help lift the 2020 trophy.

Rondo’s legacy had fallen off a bit, mainly due to him bouncing around the league for almost half a decade. After leaving the Boston Celtics, he became a member of four different teams all in the span of four years before finding a home in LA.

Regardless of that, the NBA’s 15th all-time leader in assists and 10th all-time in assists per game has had a legendary career and seems to have something left in the tank. Would the Lakers be celebrating if Rondo had signed elsewhere in 2018? The mind ponders.

After lifting yet another Larry O’Brien trophy and becoming the first to ever do that as both a Los Angeles Laker and a Boston Celtic, Rondo’s future is wide open. Expected to opt-out of his near-minimum contract, a raise is truly justified for Rajon.

Right now it seems like there’s a number of teams that could use a point guard like Rondo. Not just as a bench player but as a starter too. The role of a facilitator is an underappreciated one, meaning that teams rarely emphasize it when trying to build a championship-caliber team.
