The Phoenix Suns have had a 10-year playoff drought. Given how well they played in the bubble this streak could end. Here are 5 roster moves they must make

Last season the Phoenix Suns made two key roster moves. They signed Ricky Rubio and traded for Aron Baynes which gave the club an edge. They took the team from last in the West to a fringe playoff contender in one season.

Apart from an eight-game losing streak in December, the Suns were able to keep any other losing streak to three games at the most. This helped keep them in the playoff hunt right up until the final week of the season.

They eventually finished tenth despite being the best team in the bubble seeding games. They won all eight games, beating teams including the LA Clippers, the OKC Thunder, the Miami Heat and the Dallas Maverick twice.

What changed from last season for the Phoenix Suns?

Apart from the mental edge Rubio and Baynes bought to the franchise, what changed last season was the ball moved more. On top of that, it was not just that the ball moved more, it moved into the right places for the Suns. They were 1st in the NBA for assists with 27.2 per game.

This is what happens when you have a quality point guard run your team. I mean no disrespect to Devin Booker but the point is a specialist position for a reason. The decision making skills that are required need to be more instincts than thoughts,

With Rubio running the point he was able to make the team more dangerous with his incredible court vision and silky passing skills. This meant that teams could not focus their defense totally on Booker.

As the Suns only just missed the playoffs, this will give them a great building block for the next few years. They have the 10th pick in the 2020 NBA so have a good chance to add to the stock of young talent. With all this in mind, lets look at the five roster moves the Phoenix Suns must make this offseason.
