Does this trade work for the Philadelphia 76ers?

Considering the desperate straits the Sixers find themselves in, this seems like a fairly low price to pay in order to get perhaps the single most desirable player in the NBA relative to their needs. This deal would constitute a reunion of sorts, bringing Chris Paul back in league with his former LA Clippers head coach, Doc Rivers.

Paul’s addition would lighten the load on Ben Simmons and his presence would introduce a much-needed traditional point guard to the mix for the Sixers. How exactly Simmons would be used going forward is a discussion for a different day, but the organization may find themselves liberated to seek some kind of trade for him as well in the aftermath.

The Philadelphia 76ers have championship aspirations, or at least have their eyes set on contention. After a four-game sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs, it’s unlikely that former head coach Brett Brown will be the only casualty as a result.

Chris Paul is the player who is both likely available and also cures most of what ails the Sixers, so if this deal or anything close to it is on the table with the Thunder, it’s something they should absolutely pursue.
