The LA Clippers needed more continuity this season. That’s something they’re going to have to strive for in the 2020-21 season.

Achieving success isn’t for everybody. The LA Clippers weren’t able to get into a groove last year and when it came time to win in the playoffs they lost. Some teams just don’t have it at times. There are games where they lose games against teams they should beat.

In some big games, they got blown out and there is controversy swirling around the team. Can they win? Are the pieces enough?

For the LA Clippers, they were always enough. They had the offensive and defensive capability to be able to contend. The problem was that at times the focus wasn’t there. Teams were able to capitalize on things at times.

It wasn’t because the Clippers were weak. It was because they were human. When you are human sometimes you want to show off. Sometimes you focus on impressing before the game.

Next season the Clippers have to focus on consistency over highlights. That smooth Paul George jumper, the Kawhi Leonard drive and passing too much for that extra three needs to stop.

The focus on fundamentals needs to be accomplished. When the Clippers master the basics then they can try to achieve those highlights they desire.

The fight for an NBA game is challenging. It takes a lot out of you.

Making sure the team goes on those runs during crucial moments and winning possessions should be what the team concentrates on. The team will eventually build habits that result in wins. Efficient field goal percentages, team chemistry and the best record in the league will be the result.

Winning streaks were hard to come by during the season. That signature winning streak that all champions have was never accomplished by the Clippers. What a lack of winning streaks does for a team is that they don’t have that chemistry. There is no blueprint for them to be able to say this is how we’ll win.

From 1-15 every player needs to reach their potential in order for a season to be successful. Road trips, big games and things as small as possessions are the worst when there are players slacking.

In the seeding games, the Clippers were able to accomplish the ability to put anybody out there and win games. To be able to handle a long season players have to step up.

When the Clippers were able to win tough games unexpected players were able to step up during big moments. In order for the team to build long winning streaks, the team needs to find out which players can help them out when the team is in a funk.

Building consistency, achieving success and winning big is done with creativity. What is the way I can get an edge on the competition with what I’ve got? Being different goes a long way in what creates a championship-level team. A new twist or wrinkle helps send a team to another level in terms of winning championships.

That new twist has to be added frequently. What results are those chemistry building moments, a new enthusiasm in winning and newfound energy?

The new Clippers coach will have to figure out how to achieve those three things. The organization will have to figure out how to build the right team that is geared towards winning.

Going into the 2020-21 NBA season the mindset has to be on winning games. They have to win games more often too. The way they do it will be key.
