2019 NBA Hoops Zion Williamson cards can be worth some major coin on the secondhand market
New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson didn’t play a whole lot in his rookie season, but he lived up to the hype. There’s reason to be excited about the unique star and his future in the league, and as a result everything involving Williamson comes with a lot of hype.
Perhaps no niche part of the basketball community has benefited more than the trading card community. Williamson and Ja Morant rookie cards were some of the most sought after cards of 2020, and moving forward their value is likely to increase as their careers become more established.
Here’s a look at some of the most valuable Zion Williamson rookie cards.
One of the most notable basketball cards is the 2020 NBA Hoops series. It’s a very simple and clean card series from Panini. So, how much is a Zion Williamson 2020 NBA Hoops rookie card worth if you have one or are able to get your hands on one?
How much is 2019 NBA Hoops Zion Williamson rookie card worth?
The value of a 2020 NBA Hoops Zion Williamson rookie card fluctuates with a variety of factors including the player’s performance, the type of card (base or parallel) and general rarity and condition. Depending on which NBA Hoops card specifically you may have, it can be valued at anywhere from $5 to several hundred dollars, even up to thousands in the case of the more rare cards.
There is massive implied volatility with all basketball cards given that they are hinged largely on player performance and market perception.
The Arriving Now version of the card that comes in NBA Hoops pack is not considered to be rare. This has sold for around $15-30 depending on condition. The holographic version of the card is a bit more expensive, selling for as much as $165 on eBay, though that may be an outlier. Expect low value for this version of the card, though it does look cool!
The base version of the NBA Hoops Zion Williamson rookie card also isn’t worth much. It may sell for anywhere from $5-15 depending on condition and ungraded (if it’s a base PSA-9 it will probably be in the $20-80 range. PSA-10 will be above $100). Parallels of the base, though, are far more valuable and sought after because of their rarity and aesthetic appeal.
The most valuable parallel of the base is “Proof Black” with only one in circulation. “Proof Gold” only has 10. These haven’t appeared on eBay yet, but they would be extremely valuable. For comparison’s sake, the Orange Explosion sold for over $700, there are 25 versions of that card in circulation.
The cards with 99 in circulation (red, green parallels) have sold for a few hundred dollars.
Even some unnumbered cards that have more bold and compelling colors have sold for large amounts. This Teal Explosion went for nearly $100.
Check Panini’s website for a full checklist and detail on how many of each numbered card is in circulation.
